It represents the club and to show how long history the club has as well as to draw the players power when that have to join the competition. One of the good example is that imagine when you are in the football stadium and there are a lot of fans of both teams waving the flags of their favourite team. This could represent the loyalty and harmony of the club with their fans and the flag is the key element to express their feeling.
